Orust 090827-30 Before this year's Stock Hit weather forecasts looked a bit like that out, it was really FOUL WEATHER promised with much wind and a lot of rain. But even if the forecast did pretty well, I think no one was there immediately regretted it ..
Kerstin, Poul and I drove the trailer with the club's kayaks up Thursday after lunch, high summer in Malmö but more overcast Orust the closer we got.

On the way out of the stock, drizzle

We packed the kayaks and camping Stockens left just after seven. A few short bursts and relatively mild southerly wind during the paddling out. Arriving at Vallero we met Dagmar, Jesper and Theresa who had come up earlier in the week. Otherwise it was actually still quite empty on the island, unlike last year ..
Top with the tents and then a quick dip before dinner. Starry night and a bit budget entertainment with bioluminescence in the bay.

Solglimt Friday morning

On Friday morning we got some quick showers before solglimtar withdrew. Slow start to the day before we decided to paddle over to Kärringön for some lunch. Although the season, should move closer to the end, it was still much life and movement on the island, and the cafe in the port was still open. Cannon Good sandwiches and cakes! A rather importunate gull invited himself as a guest and Theresa had to take the gloves a few times. It looked right out afterwards offended ..

A few showers & bears later and after having taken the opportunity to use some other facilities, we hopped in the kayaks again. The wind was still the right answer and we went out between Torno and Vallero in little old swell. Back and forth in waves for a while, more rain and then quite a lot of rain, before we paddled back to Vallero again.
Kerstin and Poul pulled into the stock to meet the rest of the gang who were on their way up.

When we arrived we called, so the damage from torrential storms and concluded that, apart from a bit åbildning between the tents were mostly done well. Perhaps the exception Teresia laundry .. However, having ditched the field and adjust the position of the tents were a little bit more tilt top again. A little piece of food before and prayed.

Visit Friday evening
big picture

Erik and Pia came by and exchanged words, but otherwise it was pretty empty on the paddlers as yet.
Later in the evening, Jesper contact with Charlotte who announced that she, Kjell and Susanna was walking out. The law was late so we had time to squeeze in a little unlucky up to the top and to the other side. Although we just missed the sunset so it was nice walk with great views towards Måseskär. Now the wind had turned over more towards the southwest and increased considerably in strength, it was promised 12-17 m / s before Saturday.
Back down at the camp, we began to scout out into the darkness after the other. We watched them until they were quite close but we heard Charlotte's and Susan's votes in a good while before. Late evening, clearly the star first, then a few showers and some flapping of the tent ..

Breakfast in Dagmar's tavern

Saturday began with wind and solar, wind actually quite a lot .. We were still alone in the morning but then it started to drop in people. First came a bunch of guys (can believe it huh ..) that would run the jetski and play paint ball. Tough guys who perhaps found it became somewhat embarrassing when a whole bunch of b paddlers came and looked at ..
Rescue Course with NIL and no other course with Nigel Foster , in addition to solving a lot of other canoeists made it suddenly a bit crowded on the beach. A new walk around the outside of the island to check out musical chairs before we packed up. Grand lake on the outside down by the lake and a splendid view on the top!

Vallerösundet, larger waves

We paddled north, were playing around in the waves for a while and then coffee at Härmanö head. If the wind blows west, it will often exciting sea in the strait between Vallero and Härmanö, and it also has now combined with alternating sunshine and heavy rain clouds, it will be quite dramatic. And because you can sneak in from behind the shelter can all choose to go that far out of the foam you want, and mastered ..
Always fun to paddle here, but especially when it looks like this - recommended!

Parking on the stock Kayak

Unusually fast paddling (with the wind behind ..) back to stock. Top with tents, a bit småsnack and shower, and then dinner at Tofta farm . Carl-Johan Rydh gave a fun talk on kayaking in Alaska - bears every day, humpback whales and 80% rain, some in summary ..
Equal windy during the night as the Vallero, but many more tents that rustled.

High paddle marketing, tailwind

Sunday began almost as Saturday, but with more rain. After a little tough starting resolved in all cases, Charlotte, Dagmar, Jesper and I for us that it would sit well with some ice cream. We paddled over to Härmanö and licked up the inside of Gullholmen. Fairly easy paddling with the wind at their backs. But unfortunately it was mostly closed so we only managed to get over each child a little tiny Geisha Chocolate with coffee. Not much to fatten the paddlers but luckily rescued Jesper day with a bag Pågen headphones as fraternal split between the starving ..
On the way back we found a completely otippat got down by the shore with a tempting GB-old man in the shade, as it also was open to. But how Dagmar than pulled in doors (and windows ..) so we came up this time ..

All in all a great weekend, lots of rain and more wind, but a weekend full of experiences! I almost feel a bit sorry for those who dropped out and decided to stay home. The fact is, even if it might be tough right before so you never regret afterwards that it went off. Not me anyway, though perhaps because the good displacement capacity and very short short-term memory ..

Paddled every bit the well, type 5 +7 +7 +11 km.

More on the stock, and perhaps more pictures from the reunion, held by Erik & Pia , Björn , Tobias , Kenneth and Thorsten example.

See you next year again huh!

Eric, you had so many great action shots for a few years ago, but now is the most cozy and macro. "Jesper in Poland" above is perhaps the best action from the stock photo published on the Web. With such waves as you had there should be lots of action shots.

If I am not mistaken you've had a site about exercise paddling for a few years ago ...
I was not getting any good action shots, the camera system lacked a bit out of Hermanö and Vallero.

Nice picture report - particularly exquisite photos of våglandskapet out at Vallero!

  6. Ulf writes:

Well it gets a little weaker over time. In addition, not completely relaxed to pick up the camera while sitting in the 50 cm round bottomed in the lake anyway. And even worse is that these days, I repaired the kayak more on land than on water - it blew away during the night and got a hole in the side ..
However, already fixed so I feel no pressing obsessions to start building new again.

In the meantime, there are of course possible to go back to your previous builds and enjoy!

Repos are not much to moan about, down to the hole a bit more trouble .. Now it is in all cases studied and tested again, and I think no one who does not know where it was to see it.
To build the tanks did not have time to properly mount ..
