Ljungskär

October 21, 2011

Blekinge Listerby 111016-17 few days of really good weather meant that Heidi and I was hungry for another camping weekend. The forecast promised, although a bit cold at night but otherwise brilliant sunshine and almost no wind. And then we both wanted to be on the club pool training in Burlington bath on Saturday stuck we can not leave until Sunday morning, the Blekinge this time ..
We were a bit chewy in the body after yesterday so we left Malmö only around half past ten, short stop for pajköp in Tollarp and reside in Kuggeboda at second Some quick lunch sandwiches on the withdrawn bridge, before we got into the kayaks and paddled south.

Past Ljungskär

When we passed Eneholm we met a little old swell from the sea, but otherwise only weak southerly wind and the sun in his eyes. We continued past the Ljungskär out against Stångskär, a nice island with a large hake and great views from the top of the bunker.
It is a bit tricky to go ashore here, either slippery flat rocks or full of stones, but between the two islands is a small beach where you tend to get into. Now, it was full of seaweed so we had to climb some .. Bird Protection in spring-summer but now it was completely calm.

Fine paddling north again, the waves in the back gave a little fun småsurf now and then, against Arpökalven. Tent location on the southwest side of the mountain is good with nice view of the sunset, but can be dark and damp in the morning this time of year. Across the strait on Arpo is also nice, but where we saw a few other canoeists who have just set up camp, so we continued westward back to Ljungskär.

When we arrived, and carried up the kayaks at the western tent, we saw that the grass was Sold out of some animals. Strangely, we knew that it usually get out here but they do not usually behave that way, almost started to suspect moles or wild boars were on the move .. Hua ..
Well, up to the tent, micro-dipping and then some pie o a sip hot & cold to get heat again. After sunset, we decided to go round the island before the food. It becomes dark so early this time of year that you may find on any evening job to not get bedsores in sleeping bags ..

On the east side, we met so bökmarodörerna, but they looked very well fed out and allowed us to pass without attacking. A little waving ears only, to command respect probably ..
When we then sat and cooked food was a big owl past, eerie and completely silently flew on a turn around at low altitude us. Check it out afterwards and guess the short-eared owl.
We were up at around eight-thirty and had time to see the moon rise before we crawled into the tent. Double sleeping bags this time also ..

Even though it was Monday morning, I woke up quite early by myself. Suspect that the body may not need more than about 10 hours of sleep .. Stunning sunrise, not a cloud, almost no wind and the dew glittering everywhere.
Heidi and I took a long walk before morning coffee and breakfast. The sheep were probably a bit sticky tomorrow because we did not see them the first lap, but later in the morning, they came forward. And this time they went to bribe with a few slices of Danish rye bread also ..

Lava & dew

We took it easy in and enjoyed the sun in the morning and did not pack up until lunch. Now it crept up a thin cloud cover and then fit it's a little paddling again.
Eastward around Arpo, Holmen and West Eneholm before we swung down into the channel between Vagnö and Almö. When we rounded the southern tip Vagnös we met a bunch of cows just by the water. They each probably just as surprised as us. Then more people and then horses on Sladö ..

Now the sun came up again and we decided to take a late afternoon lunch at the bay on the south side Sladö. Sheltered from the wind and the old swell but with a nice view. When we went ashore, we saw two cows in the distance though they seemed rather uninterested so we did not care about them ..
But when we then sat for a while and printed in our cheese sandwich and the last pie, and turned on, was one cow with her head down between the kayaks. It was probably yummy to lick the salt because they were properly dressed. And it was not immediately interested in moving on to either ..

Well, finally we came off anyway, and paddled back over Torköfjärden. With the last remnants of the waves and mist in your face, it was a nice end. It was quite quiet when we packed the cars at Kuggeboda. Only the occasional acorn, which tumbled down occasionally broke the silence ..

Kuggeboda

Nice bonus weekend with real British summer weather! Just in time empty of people, produce mosquitoes but a lot of other animals, in some varying sizes ..
Since we did not see so much last time we were here last spring , it felt good to get back to Listeby again under these circumstances ..!

Paddled 8 +11 km.

Nicely with the animals! Greetings from the Netherlands.

Think also about the animals. They graze and keep the islands open, and it gets a little more life in the archipelago.
Possibly, some of crete tour need polish on his Conduct slightly. It is not considered quite attractive to rummage through someone's kayak without asking first ..

Thank you! One can usually use the nice light during morning & afternoon this time of year but, due to the short days, having to cut back on the important beauty sleep too much. In addition, we had enough unusual lucky with the weather and reasonably well behaved islanders who stood and posed ..
