When a frame is in place
February 8, 2006
Now at least I got started with the construction to finish, yesterday I got up the jig and today came the ribs in place. Nice to see in reality what could only have been on paper since last fall ..

Measuring the ribs | Stävmallens mount in frames one
I usually run with a thin fishing line when I measured in frames - if you let it run free 1 mm below, you feel the gap and find that it do not come in somewhere. The front counter model dating to the second rib to have greater control over the form - 6 mm plywood save weight but still with a FIRMNESS.
Now all stand and sit overnight so I can check the shape in the morning before I set about using lists. And yes, it was a bit narrower - 50 cm is indeed a smooth and good figure ..

Thank you! We'll see how it goes this time - it is always uncertain before it falls into place ..

Wow, what beautiful lines!
What kind of board material, you have to the ribs? They look really well made out. Conjectured first in ordinary construction plywood, but the cut surface looks so good.
You seem to have an excellent fleet. Is the band saw and belt sander you use to get such good frames? Say you saw and rasp, I am really impressed.

Well almost - jigsaw, fine blade, and the oscillating hand sanding. Then the plywood wheat currently kvalisort really what it is. It's been lying on the floor here at Rooseum art gallery - since I work a little extra here sometimes I can borrow their carpentry. And yes, there are many fun tools here ..

Seeing that you are not adhering to the strips that are otherwise normal. With your method should be thinner frames could be used and thus reduce processing time and possibly better precision. Is there anything you have tried before or you see any downsides to this?

I took the 14 mm plywood mostly because it was available, had I been forced to run o buy it would probably become thinner. What had saved a little time .. For better accuracy, I drive with more frames, type 20 or so - 4 mm strip is on the verge of what works with only the 12th Think it'll be ok anyway but there has been little pysslande and it is not thick in the hull when it is finished sanded ..
